Pursuing an MPhil in International Relations at Swansea allows you to embark on a major research project driven by your personal interests. This prestigious degree serves as a stepping stone to academic careers while expanding job prospects in education, government, and private industries. You'll produce a 60,000-word thesis showcasing original findings that advance the field, followed by an oral defense (viva voce). Our vibrant research community features dedicated faculty across specialized groups: Global Drug Policy Observatory (GDPO), International Studies, Conflict and Security (ISCAS), and Political Analysis and Government (PAG). Their expertise spans International Development, Conflict Studies, Security Strategy, US Foreign Policy, and Intelligence. The program sharpens essential research capabilities for advanced work in International Relations, supplemented by campus skills workshops. Students present their work at departmental seminars and the College of Arts and Humanities Postgraduate conference.
