Pursuing a PhD or MPhil in History allows you to engage in an extensive research project driven by your personal interests. For the PhD, you'll submit a thesis of maximum 100,000 words, compared to 60,000 words for the MPhil. Both degrees conclude with an oral defense of your thesis (viva voce examination).
