The International Relations Extended MA (EMA) offers engaging instruction on the global political landscape, examining key challenges, major stakeholders, and diverse analytical approaches. Students develop comprehensive insight into shifting world affairs before focusing on Asia-Pacific studies. Alumni pursue fulfilling roles in governmental sectors, political fields, UN agencies, diplomatic services, and relief institutions. The curriculum includes four mandatory 20-credit global studies units, two electives, and a 60-credit thesis project during the latter half. Core subjects encompass: international relations theories, Asia-Pacific security studies, social science frameworks, and critiques of postcolonial perspectives. The program also addresses pivotal historical and policy frameworks. Elective choices range from conflict studies to UK governance, and from digital policy to democratic systems.
Participants acquire advanced expertise in global affairs alongside refined communication and professional writing abilities. Graduates typically enter positions with UN bodies, public administration, aid organizations, corporate sectors, journalism, and public relations.
