The Applied Research Year offers students a chance to complete a 9-12 month placement (minimum 40 weeks) within a research institution to acquire direct research experience. Participants join a research team, engaging in daily scientific activities pertinent to their field of study. Typically, students contribute to several research initiatives, frequently working on sequential projects. This immersive experience cultivates sophisticated research capabilities, including proficiency with specialized technology, analytical techniques, field surveys, and the application of proper experimental methodologies for data gathering and interpretation. Participants may also draft technical reports, conduct literature reviews, and present scientific findings through various formats. The placement additionally provides networking prospects to establish professional connections.
