Ancient History delves into and analyzes the civilizations of ancient Greece and Rome, along with their global connections. While these societies might seem remote, their impact persists in modern times. This three-year BA program immerses you in theories, methods, and sources (including archaeology) to understand diverse ancient experiences. The analytical skills you'll develop can lead to rewarding career paths across various fields.
You'll explore Greek and Roman history, society, architecture, archaeology, warfare, empire, gender, religion, politics, and economics—or discover ancient Egypt. Opportunities to study ancient Greek or Latin are also available.
Our program offers a wide array of specialized topics, taught by internationally renowned scholars. Faculty expertise spans Greek city-states and their geographers, Cyprus across eras, Alexander the Great, Roman Syria, Pompeii, and late Roman empire figures.
Your studies will combine lectures, seminars, and research guidance, with innovative assessments like blog posts, presentations, and website design, in addition to traditional exams, essays, and a final-year dissertation.
