For those enthusiastic about computing careers but not yet prepared for a full honors degree, or entering the field without prior formal education, a one-year computing foundation program offers the perfect introduction. This pathway equips you with fundamental programming, web design, networking, and security skills before progressing to the three-year BSc (Hons) Software Engineering degree.
Throughout the foundation year, you'll master core programming concepts through engaging, hands-on projects. These activities are supervised by an experienced teaching team with diverse expertise.
Personal growth is essential - you'll receive guidance to boost your academic confidence and begin developing as an independent learner. We emphasize teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration, skills that employers consistently value.
After completing the foundation year, you'll advance to the first year of the BSc (Hons) Software Engineering program. Initial studies encompass coding, software testing, networking, security, algorithms, and databases. You'll also enhance your academic writing and research abilities, which will support your learning throughout the program. These foundational subjects pave the way for more advanced topics in the second year, including artificial intelligence and mobile app development.
The final year features a capstone project where you can demonstrate your software systems engineering expertise. You'll also explore specialized areas through elective modules in high-demand fields like data science and immersive technologies.
All our computing undergraduate programs offer an optional placement year between the second and third years, providing valuable industry experience.
Our dedicated academic team will help you establish yourself as a professional by developing online portfolios to highlight your skills. You'll also have opportunities to network at local tech events, gaining practical experience and feedback.
