Embark on a rewarding journey in social work and create meaningful impact: this program equips you with essential knowledge and hands-on experience to improve lives of those in need. The initial two years focus on foundational social work principles and related disciplines like law and sociology. In your final year, you can specialize in either adult services or child and family welfare to tailor your career trajectory.

You'll undertake two substantial work placements with local authorities or regional voluntary/private organizations. Our program maintains strong partnerships with four municipal authorities (Southampton City, Hampshire, Portsmouth, and Isle of Wight) plus numerous social care providers for practical training opportunities.

Our faculty's robust industry connections with employers, service users, and caregivers have enabled past students to apply classroom theory in real-world settings, enhancing their professional capabilities and confidence while expanding their career networks.

These industry relationships also facilitate regular guest lectures from practicing social workers, offering students valuable perspectives on the field and potential career paths. This program delivers both an academic credential and professional accreditation, being approved by Social Work England - ensuring you can register as a qualified social worker upon graduation.
