Our film and television research expertise spans American, British, Irish, East Asian, and European cinema, covering areas like adaptation studies, documentary filmmaking, horror genres, and popular TV. In performance studies, we focus on applied theater, modern British drama, site-specific performances, theater history, cultural ethnography, performance philosophy, and monologue artistry. Many faculty members incorporate practice-based research approaches, including screenwriting. This PhD program operates within the College of Social Sciences and Arts Graduate School, fostering a dynamic research environment where students actively contribute to the university's intellectual community. As a research student, you'll join our Humanities network with access to diverse academic events, from discipline-specific seminars to university-wide conferences. We provide structured research training alongside informal workshops for honing presentation skills. Financial support is available for conference participation, and we actively promote student publications and academic presentations.
