No prior anthropology background is required to benefit fully from this program. For those with previous anthropology experience, SOAS postgraduate studies provide opportunities to refine specialized interests through advanced research, including language acquisition and in-depth exploration via a customizable Dissertation module.
The two-year MA... combined degree with Intensive Language (South East Asian Language) caters to students seeking both academic and professional engagement with South East Asia. The intensive language component develops strong proficiency in either Indonesian or Vietnamese, with an immersive summer program in the region between academic years.
This extended pathway allows students to combine intensive South East Asian language study with various MA programs including Linguistics, History, Anthropology of Food, Anthropological Research Methods, Migration and Diaspora Studies, or Social Anthropology.
