Royal Holloway's Department of Economics ranks among the nation's leading economics faculties, boasting diverse specializations such as labor economics, development economics, microeconomic theory, and experimental economics. According to REF2014, our research output places us 9th nationally for world-class and internationally significant work.
With approximately 30 active researchers and 30 doctoral candidates representing more than 20 nations, we provide a dynamic research atmosphere and a robust PhD program featuring intensive first-year economic training and strong career placement outcomes.
Our intimate PhD cohort fosters regular, high-quality engagement between students and faculty. Doctoral candidates receive comprehensive economic instruction in their initial year and can showcase their research progress while obtaining valuable feedback through our dedicated PhD seminar program.
