Our program allows you to examine chosen subjects from a comparative perspective, such as analyzing connections between literature, film, or cultural expressions across different linguistic regions, including works in translation.
This program empowers you to deeply investigate your specific interests while also offering a pathway to explore potential doctoral research areas. Although you'll conduct independent research, you'll receive dedicated individual guidance throughout your studies. Collaborating closely with your expert supervisor(s), you'll refine a focused research question and produce a substantial 30,000-40,000 word dissertation.
You'll join our vibrant research community where faculty members are pioneering new knowledge in their fields. Our extensive teaching and research capabilities ensure access to contemporary scholarship, expert mentorship, and stimulating intellectual engagement. Our innovative work spans from medieval studies to contemporary 21st century topics, encompassing literature, film, philosophy, and visual arts. Potential comparative approaches include adaptation studies, reception theory, performance analysis, concepts of place/displacement, or cultural exchange. The program also encourages interdisciplinary methodologies to develop fresh critical insights and transcend geographical limitations.
