This Joint Honours program enhances your knowledge of English literature while allowing you to master your preferred language: French, German, Italian, or Spanish.

In your language studies, whether you begin as a beginner, advanced learner, or native speaker, you'll focus on essential language skills including writing, reading, speaking, and listening. All instruction is provided by native-speaking educators.

The modern languages portion of your degree lets you delve into the literature, arts, culture, and history of your chosen language region. Topics range from 17th-century French drama to depictions of youth in German culture, Italian design innovations, and visual arts across Spanish-speaking countries. As a language student, you'll refine your communication and research abilities while gaining intercultural insights alongside language expertise.

A Levels: AAB-ABB
Required subjects:

A-Level grade B in English Literature or English Literature and Language
Grade B at A-Level in the appropriate language(s) for the advanced-level language pathway. For the beginner-level language pathway there is no language requirement, but only one language can be studied at beginner-level.
At least five GCSEs at grade A*-C or 9 - 4 including English and Mathematics.

IB - 6,5,5 at Higher Level, including English Literature and the appropriate language if taken at Higher Level, with a minimum of 32 points overall.

IELTS: 7.0 overall. Writing 7.0. No other subscore lower than 5.5.
Pearson Test of English: 69 overall. Writing 69. No other subscore lower than 51.
Trinity College London Integrated Skills in English (ISE): ISE IV.
Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) grade C.
