Lusophone Studies falls under the Modern Languages research group, offering a dynamic setting for both specialized and cross-disciplinary academic work. Acknowledged as a leading hub for studying Portuguese-speaking cultures, this program covers languages, literature, history, linguistics, and visual arts. Students can develop unique research initiatives with dedicated guidance from their supervision team. Faculty members in the Lusophone Studies program conduct pioneering research focused on Portuguese-speaking regions, especially Brazil and Lusophone Africa. Key research areas encompass digital media, documentary studies, gender research, postcolonial literature and cinema, portrayals of heroism, and metropolitan cultural analysis.
