The PGCE in Social Science closely follows the Northern Ireland Curriculum, preparing graduates to instruct Social Science for students aged 11 to 18. This program focuses on enhancing both your teaching skills and professional confidence in Social Science education. Ideal for aspiring educators, it's particularly suited for Social Science graduates or those nearing graduation. Additional spots are available for candidates wanting to teach through Irish in Irish-medium schools, with an optional Irish Medium Education (IME) certification offered in partnership with St Mary's University College.

Applications received after the closing date will be regarded as LATE and will be considered only if vacancies exist when all applications received by the closing date have been processed. Normally we do not consider late applications before June at the earliest.
All applicants must possess the following
At least a 2-2 Honours degree (and/or higher degree) or equivalent qualification acceptable to the University relevant to teaching Politics, Sociology or Health and Social Care to A-level. Degrees in cognate areas may be considered if 50% or more of the modules studied are deemed currently relevant to teaching the chosen Social Science for which you have applied (that is Politics or Sociology or Health and Social Care) to A-level.
At the time of application, GCSE Mathematics grade C or 4, and GCSE English Language grade C or 4 or equivalent qualification. (Please note Essential Skills Level 2 qualifications are not regarded as equivalent for entry to this professional course as the professional accrediting authority, the GTCNI, does not recognise them as equivalent.)

TOEFL iBT 90 with minimum marks as follows- Listening - 17 Reading - 18 Speaking - 20 Writing - 17
