Chemical Engineering focuses on developing and managing processes that transform raw materials and energy into valuable everyday products. It examines microscopic-scale reactions and applies this knowledge to large-scale manufacturing of items like medicines, food products, energy sources, plastics, lubricants, fuels, electronic components, energy storage devices, and surface coatings. Chemical Engineers utilize applied sciences, engineering principles, technological solutions, financial analysis, and management strategies to not only devise methods for material conversion but also to build, run, and oversee production facilities in cost-effective, ethical, and environmentally responsible ways. This field intersects with mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering, as well as business management and entrepreneurial studies.
Exceptional students can pursue four-year MEng or five-year MEng (with Industry Placement) programs designed for those aiming to achieve the highest standards in Chemical Engineering. High-achieving BEng students may upgrade to the MEng program until the conclusion of their third year.
