The BA in Irish and Politics allows students to master the Irish language while exploring political studies. The Irish curriculum emphasizes contemporary language and cultural studies, with core modules addressing grammar, pronunciation, and meaning. Elective courses offer a comprehensive view of Irish culture, identity, and society through various lenses including cinema, translation studies, linguistic rights, contemporary poetry, language structure, and literary fiction. The program also investigates Gaelic identity formation and cultural heritage through mythology, folk traditions, and connections to Scottish Gaelic. Each summer includes an immersive Gaeltacht residency, and senior students can pursue professional placements in Irish-speaking environments. The Politics component analyzes societal conflicts, cooperation, political philosophy, ethical frameworks, and comparative government systems across different nations and historical periods.
