At Queen's University, students pursuing English and Philosophy examine literature in English across its full historical spectrum. The curriculum spans from ancient Anglo-Saxon texts to modern works from Ireland, Britain, and worldwide, analyzing them through historical, linguistic, cultural, material, and ideological lenses. Philosophy studies introduce foundational thinkers from Plato and Aristotle to Descartes and Marx, while developing analytical abilities through formal logic and critical reasoning courses.
International Study Options
Queen's English department provides diverse Study Abroad possibilities, including European exchanges through Erasmus and partnerships with American universities.
European students enrolled at other institutions are encouraged to apply for Erasmus exchanges at Queen's. This program allows participants to spend either a semester or full academic year studying with us while maintaining enrollment at their home university.
