This program provides a Single Honours Archaeology degree with an added Spanish language component.
Archaeology examines diverse evidence of human history, including artifacts, monuments, settlements, and landscapes, to understand how civilizations have evolved. The curriculum covers various eras of global, European, and Irish/British archaeology, spanning from early human history to contemporary heritage studies. Queen's University Belfast ranks among the top UK institutions for Archaeology, securing third place for student experience in the 2022 Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide and maintaining its top position for student satisfaction in the 2022 Complete University Guide.
Alongside developing comprehensive archaeological skills through excavations, fieldwork, international trips, and lab work, students in the Archaeology with Spanish program gain fluency in Spanish while exploring Hispanic cultures (including literature, film, linguistics, art, and history). Between their second and third years, participants spend a year abroad at one of QUB's Hispanic partner universities, currently including the Autonomous University of Madrid and the University of Granada, to study Archaeology.
