This Joint Honours program provides a comprehensive study of humanity's past through a humanities lens, utilizing both physical artifacts and written records. Students gain practical experience handling archaeological materials and participating in fieldwork. Queen's History department presents an extensive selection of modules spanning ancient civilizations to modern 20th century history. The curriculum encompasses diverse regions including Ireland, Britain, Europe, Africa, Asia, and North America, with specialized courses in gender studies, sociocultural history, colonialism, political developments, religious transformations, and economic shifts. Beyond the Joint Honours BA in Archaeology and History, Queen's provides Single Honours options in Archaeology (BA) and Archaeology-Palaeoecology (BSc), plus combined degrees pairing Archaeology with disciplines like Languages and Geography. These programs feature CIfA and UAUK-accredited module pathways, meeting professional archaeological standards.
