The School of Engineering and Materials Science boasts a dynamic and accomplished research community, with expertise spanning five key divisions: Aerospace Engineering and Fluid Mechanics, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering and Renewable Energy, Materials Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering, Robotics and Design. Queen Mary's engineering legacy spans over a century, with materials research being the longest-running in the UK. We welcome PhD Research Degree applications from suitable qualified students from across the world (minimum equivalent of a 2:1 hons degree from a UK university). IELTS (Academic) minimum score 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each of Writing, Listening, Reading and Speaking.  TOEFL minimum score 92 overall with 21 in Writing, 19 in Reading, 18 in Listening and 21 in Speaking.
