All supervisors are experienced staff members actively engaged in significant research initiatives and academic publications. Our vibrant postgraduate research community consistently maintains approximately 120 students. As part of both the LISS and LAHP Doctoral Training Programmes, the School of Law welcomes applications for doctoral degrees while providing various funding options. We offer PhD supervision across diverse legal disciplines, with primary research focus areas including: Aviation and Shipping Law, Banking and Financial Law, Competition Law and Policy, Criminal Justice Studies, Economics and Finance, Energy and Natural Resources Law, Ethics and Equality, European Union Law, Global Legal Studies and Governance, Human Rights Law, IT, Media and Communications Law, Insurance and Taxation Law, Intellectual Property Law, International Commercial Law, International State Crime, Legal Theory and Humanities, Public International Law, and Regulatory Compliance.
Typically, the minimum entry requirement is an UK upper second class honours degree (2:1). Some Schools/Institutes require a first class honours degree and/or a masters degree. If your qualifications are not from a UK university, Queen Mary also considers recognised equivalent qualifications from accredited overseas institutions and equivalent professional qualifications. Relevant work experience may also be taken into account. Academic IELTS: 6.5 overall, with a 6.0 in all categories, TOEFL minimum score 92 overall with 21 in Writing, 19 in Reading, 18 in Listening and 21 in Speaking.
