The School of Biological and Behavioural Sciences at Queen Mary University of London ranks among the UK's top-tier research institutions, as evidenced by the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) evaluation. The REF 2014 results show that 82% of our biology research achieves world-leading or internationally excellent status. Our postgraduate research programs provide comprehensive training in research methodology, design, execution, and data interpretation. We welcome approximately 30 new PhD candidates annually. Our Biological Sciences PhD program enables students to pursue research across diverse disciplines. Current PhD opportunities are listed on our website, and we encourage prospective students to reach out to potential supervisors regarding research possibilities in their field. Additionally, we participate in the London NERC and BBSRC LIDo Doctoral Training Partnerships (DTPs) for Biological Sciences PhD admissions. A first or upper second-class honours degree in a relevant subject area. If your qualifications are not from a UK university, QMUL also considers recognised equivalent qualifications from accredited overseas institutions and equivalent professional qualifications. A masters qualification is desirable but not always essential. Relevant experience within the field may also be taken into account. Academic IELTS: 6.5 overall, with a 6.0 in all categories. TOEFL minimum score 92 overall with 21 in Writing, 19 in Reading, 18 in Listening and 21 in Speaking.
