The Geography MRes is a master's program focused on research. While specializing in your chosen area of human geography, you'll acquire essential social science research techniques and methodologies suitable for advanced studies in fields like historical geography and urban geography. This course offers an in-depth exploration of geographical theories, methodologies, and key disciplinary topics. You'll master high-level research capabilities including project design, planning, execution, along with analytical and interpretive skills—equipping you for successful PhD advancement. The program allows selection of two optional modules aligned with your research focus from various human geography offerings, plus modules from other QMUL departments. Regular research seminars and framework sessions led by distinguished academics will be available. Career prospectsThis degree equips graduates for diverse research-oriented professions, particularly providing the research management capabilities and data analysis proficiency needed for doctoral studies or social research across public, private, and nonprofit sectors.
Students need to have a 2:1 or above at undergraduate level in a relevant subject. IELTS (Academic) minimum score 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each of Writing, Listening, Reading and Speaking; TOEFL minimum score 92 overall with 21 in Writing, 19 in Reading, 18 in Listening and 21 in Speaking.
