The Bachelor of Science in Oral Health prepares you for registration as a dental therapist or hygienist, enabling you to work autonomously within dental teams to deliver both preventive and clinical care. You'll train at Queen Mary University of London's Institute of Dentistry, learning alongside future dentists. Combining laboratory work, clinical practice, and classroom instruction, you'll acquire the expertise, technical abilities, and professional mindset needed to make significant contributions to oral healthcare teams. Our institution has a rich heritage in educating dental therapists and hygienists, dating back to 1983 when we first offered the Diploma in Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy - a program that has since evolved into today's BSc Oral Health degree.
As a compact dental school, we offer outstanding personal support during your studies and as you transition into professional practice. Our teaching staff hold national recognition, ensuring you receive cutting-edge dental education and training in superior patient care. Situated uniquely between London's financial district and Docklands, you'll gain experience treating patients from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Upon graduation, you'll be qualified to practice as a dental therapist or hygienist in general practice settings, whether within the NHS or private healthcare. Career opportunities also exist in community health services, international positions, military dentistry, as well as in dental research and academia. Your BSc degree also establishes a solid foundation for postgraduate studies, including potential applications to dentistry programs.
