This combined Film Studies and German program enables you to explore cinematic arts while gaining expertise in German language and culture. Beginners are welcome as no previous German experience is required. The Film Studies component cultivates visual literacy and connects to diverse fields including history, politics, philosophy, technology, and performance arts. The curriculum covers cinema's historical and theoretical aspects through various modules, with opportunities for scriptwriting. The German studies at Queen Mary combine rigorous language training with cultural exploration of German-speaking regions, fostering advanced linguistic abilities alongside critical analysis and intercultural understanding.

Your third year includes an immersive experience studying or working in Germany, Austria, or German-speaking Switzerland, providing unparalleled opportunities to refine language skills and enhance cultural awareness through direct exposure.

A-Level - Grades BBB at A-Level. Excludes General Studies. IB - International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum of 30 points overall, including 5,5,5 from three Higher Level subjects. GCSE - Minimum five GCSE passes including English at grade C or 4. IELTS Academic- 7.0 overall including 7.0 in Writing, and 5.5 in Reading, Listening and Speaking. TOEFL- 100 overall including 27 in Writing, 18 in Reading, 17 in Listening and 20 in Speaking.
