Every adventure begins with that first move, and your foundation year is just the beginning. You'll concentrate on mathematics while delving into scientific subjects. This powerful pairing gives you a strong launchpad as you progress to the BSc (Hons) Financial Mathematics program in year two.

You'll engage in various projects, working both independently and collaboratively—some assigned by industry partners and others modeled after real-world situations. These experiences sharpen your problem-solving abilities and creative thinking while keeping learning grounded in practical applications.

Should you discover financial mathematics isn't your path, we can help you transition to another mathematics program after your foundation year. Our Mathematics Undergraduate Research Scholarships (MURS) provide funding for brief research positions. This initiative lets you explore research passions while contributing to our academic community. By joining our Mathematics Society, you'll gain access to frequent events organized on campus by our local Institute of Mathematics and its Applications chapter.
