This program provides comprehensive training in the physiological foundations of equine sports science, helping you apply these concepts across various equestrian fields. Tailored for those seeking deeper insights into performance horse development, management, and conditioning, it emphasizes hands-on implementation of core scientific concepts.
Your learning will take place at our Brackenhurst Campus, where you'll have access to our state-of-the-art Equestrian Center for practical training and research. The center also offers boarding options for student-owned horses. During your second year, you can participate in a six-month international exchange program with partner institutions in Australia or Canada, including our strong collaboration with Canada's University of Guelph. The curriculum aligns with preparation for British Horse Society (BHS) certifications and the UK Coaching Certificate (UKCC). High-achieving riders may qualify for our sports scholarships available to elite athletes in multiple disciplines.
The curriculum focuses on key scientific areas: athletic performance, dietary needs, veterinary medicine, breeding science, and workout physiology. You'll investigate specialized topics like movement mechanics and rider effectiveness, while examining how equine behavior, wellbeing, medical conditions, injuries, and conditioning impact performance.
