Literature and poetry offer profound insights into the human experience, revealing our true nature through creative expression. This Joint Honours program in English and Philosophy merges cutting-edge scholarship from both disciplines, presenting them as interconnected fields that enrich one another through shared methodologies and perspectives.

With both historical and modern relevance, the program demonstrates how philosophical inquiry gains depth within literary frameworks, while literature inherently grapples with fundamental existential questions.

Students will examine influential literary and philosophical works across eras and cultures, considering their global impact and contemporary relevance to mental health, environmental concerns, and sustainability initiatives. The curriculum bridges classical and modern texts, proving the enduring importance of these disciplines in addressing humanity's most urgent issues.

Taking an interdisciplinary approach, the course explores the intricate relationships between logic, ethics, society, politics, institutions, and technology in textual analysis. It particularly highlights how expertise in literary and philosophical analysis is increasingly vital for humanities graduates seeking high-level professional opportunities in today's job market.
