Our Mechanical Engineering degree is crafted to develop your confidence and technical abilities while fostering an understanding of engineering's broader societal, ethical, sustainable, and economic implications. You'll acquire hands-on expertise to thrive as a professional engineer, with the academic foundation needed to advance into leadership positions. The initial year establishes core engineering principles, followed by deeper exploration of mechanics, manufacturing, energy systems, and design—often through collaborations with industry leaders like Nissan, BAE Systems, and Rolls-Royce. Northumbria's BEng in Mechanical Engineering spans three years, with an optional placement or study abroad year extending it to four. The curriculum also includes cutting-edge mechanical engineering topics and a cross-disciplinary Level 7 project for those pursuing an MEng qualification.
Career readiness is integrated throughout Northumbria's Mechanical Engineering curriculum.
