Our research in digital media embraces transdisciplinary approaches, innovative digital methodologies, the fusion of arts and sciences, social technologies, and community involvement. The Digital Media PhD falls under the Fine Art academic program. We provide doctoral guidance in two primary digital media domains. Professor John Bowers heads the digital arts practice specialization, covering subjects like: cutting-edge technologies and experimental approaches, artistic-scientific collaborations, cross-disciplinary methodologies, interactive systems and human-computer interfaces in artistic contexts, data visualization in creative work, emotional computing applications, philosophical applications, cognitive philosophy, modern art and media theory, novel creative spaces and living laboratories, open-source creative movements, and collective creativity through crowdsourcing.
