The MSc Mental Health Nursing (pre-registration) program is tailored for graduates, enhancing the abilities gained during your bachelor's studies and elevating them to a master's standard.

Globally, one in eight individuals experiences mental health challenges, typically marked by significant disruptions in thinking, emotional control, or behavior (WHO 2022).

Alongside examining various mental health issues—such as psychosis, depression, self-harm, and suicidal tendencies—you'll analyze diverse health determinants and population disparities. The curriculum covers available psychosocial approaches and medical treatments.

Emphasizing patient-focused care and teamwork, you'll begin developing therapeutic connections during initial placements. You'll champion vulnerable individuals' rights, following mental health legislation while critically examining restrictive practices.

Your education will balance practical placements/simulations with theoretical study, preparing you with comprehensive skills and knowledge for leadership roles.

Manchester Met's Nursing School faculty consists entirely of practicing registered nurses with varied clinical and management expertise. Our mental health specialists bring experience from multiple sectors including community care, addiction services, hospital psychiatry, maternal mental health, and mental health legislation.
