The MA/MFA Performance program is a dynamic graduate course that delivers a hands-on, adaptable, and multidisciplinary approach to performance creation and training. Students gain an in-depth, practical knowledge of modern performance techniques, influenced by diverse artistic and theoretical perspectives. Central to the curriculum is fostering innovative creative work and exploring its professional development and presentation.
Additionally, the MA/MFA Performance allows students to focus on either laboratory theatre or contemporary performance, or blend aspects of both while engaging with real-world professional arts settings. These experiences are then critically examined within professional frameworks before students undertake their final degree projects.
The contemporary performance specialization emphasizes developing groundbreaking experimental work, spanning radical theatre, modern dance, and performance/live art. It particularly benefits from Manchester School of Art's renowned interdisciplinary environment and the city's global arts connections.
