The BSc (Hons) Criminology program is designed for students intrigued by criminal behavior, justice systems, and societal responses to crime. This dynamic course provides a comprehensive examination of criminal motivations, prevention strategies, and the experiences of both offenders and victims within legal frameworks. The initial year establishes foundational knowledge, covering core criminological theories, justice system structures, and practical applications in crime policy. Students develop robust research capabilities across the first two years, preparing them for self-directed final year projects.Our diverse academic department emphasizes specialized study options, allowing students to focus on particular criminology aspects. The program prioritizes career-relevant skill development through practical experiences like internships, international study options, and individual research projects.During the final year, students can continue with the general BSc (Hons) Criminology or select a specialization leading to focused qualifications in:Justice AnalyticsQuantitative CriminologyInternational Youth JusticeCareer opportunitiesGraduates find employment across traditional justice sectors (including law enforcement, corrections, and rehabilitation services) as well as private security firms. Additional pathways include social services positions, probation roles, community housing, and family support. Many alumni secure administrative positions in government agencies or pursue meaningful work with nonprofit organizations.
104-112 UCAS tariff points; GCE A levels - grades BCC or equivalent; Pearson BTEC National Extended Diploma - grade DMM; Access to HE Diploma - Pass overall with a minimum 106 UCAS Tariff points; Specific GCSE requirements. GCSE grade C/4 in English Language or equivalent, e.g. Pass in Level 2 Functional Skills English and GCSE grade C/4 in Mathematics or equivalent, e.g. Pass in Level 2 Functional Skills Mathematics. IB Diploma with minimum 26 points overall or 104 UCAS Tariff points from three Higher Level subjects. If you plan to meet the Level 2 course requirements through your IB Diploma you will need to achieve Higher Level 4 or Standard Level 5 in English and Higher Level 4 or Standard Level 4 in Mathematics. IELTS score required for international students: 6.0 overall with no component below 5.5
