Qualification Requirements

Bar students are selected primarily on academic ability and must have been awarded a minimum of 2:2 at first degree level with an overall mark of 55% or above, or international equivalent, although factors such as commitment to the profession, motivation and other skills will also be considered.
All offers are subject to the condition that students successfully complete the academic stage of their training to the Bar Standards Board's satisfaction and have enrolled as a student member of one of the Inns of Court.
You will need to apply to join one of the Inns of Court no later than 12 weeks prior to the start of the course. This means that to begin the course on 1st September 2023, you will need to have applied to join one of the Inns no later than Friday 9 June 2023. Please note that the requirements for being called to the Bar by an Inn of Court will include an additional criminal records check.
English Language Requirements
This course requires IELTS of 7.5 in all elements of the test (or an equivalent English Language Proficiency test).
