This project aims to explore both numerically and theoretically the interfacial behavior of liquid films when subjected to complicating factors like surfactants, evaporation, and external electric fields. Given the complexity of analyzing the complete system of equations for these two-phase flows, we will begin by studying simplified model equations. Our approach involves developing reduced-dimension models, such as long-wave Benney-type formulations and weighted-integral-boundary-layer representations. The study might also incorporate experimental work utilizing advanced flow visualization techniques, alongside numerical simulations guided by findings from the simplified models.
