Numerous practical challenges are addressed through an integrated approach combining mathematical and computational methods. Our MSci (Hons) program in Computer Science and Mathematics provides comprehensive training in both fields and their synergistic applications.
Mathematics and computer science are fundamentally interconnected, and our MSci program is designed to give students a robust toolkit for tackling complex problems at this intersection. This prepares graduates exceptionally well for careers bridging computing and mathematics, as well as traditional paths available to single-subject specialists in either discipline.
The curriculum balances computer science and mathematics equally, ensuring graduates gain extensive expertise in both areas. During the first two years, students master essential mathematical concepts crucial for business, industry, and academic research, with special focus on computational approaches. The computer science components during this period emphasize mathematical foundations within the field.
In the third year, students undertake an interdisciplinary project combining computer science and mathematics knowledge, while also customizing their studies through a selection of specialized optional modules in both subjects.
The MSci's additional fourth year offers broader entrepreneurial insights, advanced mathematical modeling studies, and the chance to enhance research capabilities through a significant supervised research project with faculty guidance.
