The MArch Architecture program builds upon the practical foundation of our renowned BArch Architecture course, further blending industry engagement with cutting-edge research. Participants explore contemporary concepts and technological advancements in architecture and urban planning to develop creative solutions for tomorrow's world.
This curriculum employs a learner-focused methodology and design-based research philosophy, offering an adaptable structure that encourages inventive design exploration and business-minded approaches through our comprehensive design lab ecosystem.
The initial year features adaptable learning formats to accommodate individual educational paths, including intensive sessions at our London location. During the second year at Loughborough, students will have opportunities to build and evaluate full-scale models using our specialized studio facilities, upgraded workspace, virtual reality systems, digital manufacturing equipment, and extensive workshop areas spanning over 3,000 square meters. Emphasis will be placed on research-driven design projects that combine thesis work with forward-looking global studies within a comprehensive studio environment.
Specialized design laboratories concentrate on distinct research domains to cultivate unique identities, enabling students to investigate experimental concepts through cyclical, reflective design processes that yield innovative yet practical solutions. Individual workstations promote idea exchange, fostering a dynamic, collaborative creative community.

Qualification Requirements
A portfolio submission and interview will form part of the admissions process for candidates that have earned a first or 2:1 on their Part 1 course.
In cases where an exceptional portfolio and interview score is achieved by a candidate with a 2:2, an offer may be made. Consideration of job prospects form part of the criteria given the structure of year one.
To undertake the MArch, all students must complete the entire course with Loughborough University. Candidates should note that there is no provision for direct entry to the second year of the course, nor is there any opportunity to study abroad at another University for any period of the course.
IELTS - 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each individual element (reading, writing, listening and speaking).
TOEFL - iBT - Overall score of 92, with not less than 22 in each test.
