Architectural research is conducted through specialized centers. Most faculty members are affiliated with one or more of these centers, allowing research students to join focused teams addressing specific challenges. Key research areas where we provide supervision encompass: Urban representation, design, and analysis Teaching methodologies in architecture and studio dynamics Digital fabrication, computational design, and architectural innovation Sustainable approaches: adaptive reuse, preservation, and ecological design Visualization technologies, mixed reality, 3D modeling, collaborative workflows, and digital environments Architecture as cultural expression Urban consumption patterns Structural design as spatial architecture: form, geometry, and technology. Each student is assigned a faculty advisor specializing in their research area to provide guidance throughout the program. As a research student, you'll join our vibrant academic community.
By nature, a PhD represents novel contributions to knowledge - principles of creativity and advancement are central to our architectural research. Unlike taught programs, research degrees emphasize self-directed study with mentorship from supervisory teams.
