A PhD program focuses entirely on research. Each doctoral project represents the distinct evolution of your personal research initiative, carried out under the supervision of at least two faculty members who specialize in your field of study.
You can undertake PhD research in any discipline offered by the University, provided there's appropriate academic support for your proposed work. Interdisciplinary projects are encouraged. The University offers a structured research environment with close supervision and regular progress reviews. Distance learning options for PhD studies are also available through London Met.
Earning a PhD involves creating novel contributions to your field. This demands comprehensive knowledge of current research, strong analytical abilities to evaluate scholarly work, and significant self-discipline to devote substantial time to your studies.
While the program doesn't include formal coursework, you'll receive research methodology training and can enroll in relevant master's-level courses. Additionally, you may pursue a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education alongside your research.
Our vibrant research community welcomes diverse perspectives. You'll join during an exciting period of research expansion at the University. Through our Graduate School, you'll access professional development events, conferences, lecture series, and research seminars. You'll also have opportunities to present at our annual Student-Staff Research Conference, preparing you for post-PhD career paths.
