A PhD program focuses entirely on research. Each doctoral project involves creating your own unique research initiative, guided by at least two faculty supervisors specializing in your field.
You can undertake PhD research in any discipline offered by the University, provided faculty expertise aligns with your project. Interdisciplinary research is encouraged. The University offers a structured research environment with close supervision and regular progress reviews. Distance learning options are available for London Met students.
Earning a PhD involves contributing new knowledge to your field. This demands thorough understanding of existing literature, strong analytical abilities to evaluate research findings, self-discipline, and significant time commitment.
While the program has no formal coursework, you'll receive research methodology training and may enroll in relevant master's-level courses. Additionally, you can pursue a PG Cert in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education alongside your research.
Our vibrant research community offers numerous opportunities. The University is currently expanding its research investments. Through the Graduate School, you'll access professional development events, conferences, lecture series, and research seminars.
