A PhD program focuses entirely on research. Each doctoral project represents the distinct evolution of your personal research initiative, carried out under the supervision of at least two faculty advisors specializing in your field.

You can undertake PhD research in any discipline offered by the University where appropriate supervisory expertise exists. Interdisciplinary projects are encouraged. You will be required to have

a good honours degree from a UK university or equivalent (first or upper-second class), although applicants will usually tend to have obtained a master's degree before entry
Candidates with other qualifications are considered on their merits.

The University only offers supervision to candidates if there is adequate available supervisory expertise in the area of the research project.
