The MA in Conference Interpreting equips you with the skills needed for a career as a professional interpreter in international organizations and private sector settings. Available languages encompass Mandarin, French, English, German, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Russian, and Spanish. Gain hands-on experience through internships, field trips, and simulated interpreting sessions at institutions like the European Commission, the Court of Justice of the European Union, and United Nations offices in Geneva and Vienna. Our cutting-edge interpreting lab features digital tools for training, virtual classrooms, and live streaming capabilities.
Students can choose from numerous language pairings with English, including French, German, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. Additional English-based combinations, such as Arabic, may be offered depending on student interest, faculty specialization, and resource availability.
All simultaneous interpretation exercises occur in our fully digital lab, which is outfitted with advanced multimedia technology for virtual instruction, performance recording, and access to authentic speech materials for practice.
The program provides real-world interpreting scenarios, including mobile interpretation exercises during guided London tours. Potential destinations include the Bank of England, Lloyd's of London, Buckingham Palace, and the Barbican Centre. Beyond local translation practice, students may have opportunities to interpret live meetings from UN Geneva, the European Commission's Court of Justice in Brussels, and other international venues.
