Our Pharmaceutical Science (including foundation year) BSc (Hons) is a four-year program designed for students aspiring to enter pharmaceutical science but lacking the standard entry qualifications for a three-year course. This comprehensive degree prepares you to impact lives through drug development while establishing core pharmacological principles in its foundation year to support your academic progression.
The initial foundation year of our Pharmaceutical Science (including foundation year) BSc (Hons) emphasizes essential biology and chemistry concepts for drug design. You'll explore molecular organic chemistry, fundamental cell biology, and core chemical reaction principles. This foundational knowledge thoroughly prepares you for the subsequent three years of study.

In addition to the University's standard entry requirements, you should have:
at least one A level (or a minimum of 32 UCAS points from an equivalent Level 3 qualification, eg BTEC Subsidiary/National/BTEC Extended Diploma)
English Language and Mathematics GCSE at grade C/grade 4 or above (or equivalent)
Other applicants may have Level 3 qualifications such as A level, BTEC Extended Diploma or Access to Higher education qualifications with high UCAS points and grades, but not in the relevant subject areas (biology and chemistry) which are required to study for BSc programmes in the School of Human Sciences.
Applicants who meet the UCAS points criteria but who obtained a D/grade 3 in English and/or Maths at GCSE may be offered a University test in these areas.
