The Department of Politics, Philosophy and Religion (PPR) invites applications for MPhil and PhD research programs in International Relations, welcoming proposals that span disciplinary, interdisciplinary, and post-disciplinary approaches.
Our MPhil program requires a 40,000-word thesis, while the PhD involves an 80,000-word dissertation. The PhD consists of two key stages:
The first probationary phase focuses on research training and thesis preparation. Students can enroll in specialized modules covering essential research methodologies, core concepts, and theoretical frameworks relevant to their chosen field. This stage also involves drafting a literature review and initiating thesis writing.
The final phase, contingent upon approval by an Upgrade Panel, involves completing research, finishing the thesis, and preparing for submission and defense. PPR fosters an active research environment with weekly seminars, and students are urged to engage in faculty-wide workshops and collaborative initiatives. We strongly recommend building academic connections across university departments.
