Become part of an energetic, collaborative network of doctoral candidates exploring diverse literary forms and research initiatives. Curious about a creative writing PhD? Your experience will vary based on your chosen focus. Generally, we anticipate a critical analysis of approximately 20,000 words alongside a creative component spanning 60-80,000 words. Your creative submission could be an excerpt or finished work - whether fiction/nonfiction prose, poetry anthology, or completed script for theater, film, or audio. These are guidelines; we welcome conversations about alternative formats and innovative projects.

Securing an appropriate mentor is crucial for your achievement, as they'll serve as both guide and constructive critic. We recommend identifying potential supervisors during your application process and reaching out beforehand. While most candidates work with one or two advisors, your project's complexity may require additional support.
