Chemical Engineers collaborate extensively, as contemporary engineering emphasizes teamwork and communication as much as scientific principles. Accordingly, our accredited Chemical Engineering curriculum acknowledges the field's diversity through a shared foundational year with all engineering disciplines at Lancaster.

In your first year, you'll investigate fundamental concepts including design principles, material science, thermodynamics, and heat transfer, complemented by essential mathematical coursework. Concurrently, you'll enhance your capabilities in design thinking, analytical problem-solving, project management, and leadership.

After establishing this comprehensive engineering foundation and sampling various specialization areas, you'll gain the flexibility to shape your academic path. At this juncture, you can either focus on Chemical Engineering or transition to any of our other specialized programs.

A Level ABB

Required Subjects A level Mathematics and a Physical Science: Chemistry, Physics or Biology

GCSE Minimum of four GCSEs at grade B or 5 with Mathematics at grade B or 6, and GCSE English Language at grade C or 4. GCSE Chemistry at grade B or 6 required with A level Physics or Biology.

IELTS 6.5 overall with at least 5.5 in each component

ToEFL IBT - 87 overall, minimum of 17 in listening, 18 in reading, 17 in speaking and 20 in writing



Other Qualifications
International Baccalaureate 32 points overall with 16 points from the best 3 Higher Level subjects including either:

Mathematics HL grade 6 (either pathway) plus grade 6 in a HL Physical Science
Mathematics HL grade 6 (either pathway) plus grade 6 in two SL Physical Sciences
Mathematics SL grade 7 (Analysis and Approaches) plus HL grade 6 in a Physical Science
Acceptable physical science subjects include Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Other physical sciences at HL may be considered. GCSE Chemistry at grade B or 6 required with a HL in Physics or Biology.
