Lancaster University offers a Theatre and Creative Writing degree program delivered through a partnership between the Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts (LICA) and the English and Creative Writing Department. This unique program blends theatrical studies with the craft of composing original fiction, poetry, or dramatic works, with each discipline enhancing the other.

The Theatre component at Lancaster exposes students to groundbreaking 20th and 21st century performance arts through diverse practical and theoretical methods. Instruction comes from globally recognized, award-winning theatre professionals and academics, equipping students with valuable creative and analytical abilities applicable to theatrical careers and beyond.

Creative Writing instruction is provided by published authors using a mix of lectures, literary readings, practical exercises, and workshop discussions. The curriculum begins with foundational creative writing coursework in the first year, followed by specialized options in subsequent years including Short Story Craft, Poetic Composition, and Nonfiction Writing.

IELTS 6.5 overall with at least 5.5 in each component. TOEFL IBT - 87 overall, minimum of 17 in listening, 18 in reading, 17 in speaking and 20 in writing. Cambridge English: Advanced CAE 176 overall with at least 162 in each element.
