Lancaster's Fine Art and Creative Writing program is delivered collaboratively by the Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts (LICA) and the English and Creative Writing Department. This interdisciplinary course perfectly suits students with exceptional academic and creative talents who wish to combine fine art studies with creative writing.

The Creative Writing curriculum is led by published authors through a mix of lectures, literary readings, practical exercises, and tutor-guided workshop discussions. First-year students take an Introduction to Creative Writing course, followed by specialized genre options in subsequent years, including Short Story Craft, Poetic Composition, or Nonfiction Writing.

The study abroad opportunity provides valuable international exposure for students considering global careers or seeking transformative educational experiences overseas. In your third year, you'll attend one of our partner institutions worldwide, enhancing your global perspective, building international connections, and developing cross-cultural competencies. While abroad, you'll select advanced courses related to your major alongside electives from the host university's offerings.
