Lancaster's History, Philosophy, and Politics program offers a unique triple major degree, combining expertise from both the History Department and the Politics, Philosophy, and Religion Department. This interdisciplinary approach allows students to explore Intellectual History, Philosophy, and Politics in depth while discovering their interconnected relationships.
During the first year, students complete three core modules that provide foundational knowledge in each field: From Ancient to Modern: History and Historians, Introduction to Philosophy, and Politics in the Modern World.
In subsequent years, students can choose from diverse optional modules examining historical eras, philosophical movements, and political theories that have influenced—and continue to impact—our modern society. As William Faulkner famously observed, "The past is never dead. It's not even past."
