Lancaster's History and Politics program is jointly delivered by our History Department and the Department of Politics, Philosophy and Religion. This interdisciplinary approach allows you to cultivate knowledge, political awareness, and specialized skills while studying alongside like-minded peers and academics.
You'll have the flexibility to choose complementary courses from both departments. For instance, you might examine US political and cultural history through History modules while simultaneously studying American Government and Politics in your Politics curriculum.
Your academic journey begins with foundational courses such as From Ancient to Modern: Historical Perspectives, and Contemporary World Politics. As you progress to your second and third years, you'll select from diverse options including Middle Eastern Politics and History, Global Relations and Security, Development Politics and Worldwide Transformations, Fundamental Economic Principles, Current Political and Philosophical Debates, and Sustainability Studies. Additional course information can be found on the PPR department's official website.
